PHP 5.6.0 RC1 is available

PreviousNext
php

The first Release Candidate of PHP 5.6 is available here on php.net, as usual also for Windows systems. The RC usually represents the final release quite well, so nothing will be added or changed (just fixed) from that point. The new features are mostly “smaller stuff”, have a look on Sitepoint’s article New features in PHP 5.6 for more information. Personal opinion: Cool to try-out, but no real advantages. Waiting for PHP 5.7 – which is currently in development and will ship with a completely refactored core – is worth it, as 5.7 will increase PHP’s performance dramatically.
