Dangerous Performance Myths in the Web (video talk by Thomas Lohner, PHPUG Latvia)

PreviousNext

A very interesting talk from Latvia’s (not 100% sure) PHP usergroup meeting: Thomas Lohner (of SysEleven) explains why some of the very popular performance opinions are wrong, and why they are. Is nginx really “faster than Apache” ? Are more MySQL indexes really better ? Does Varnish really cache my site ?

This is an excellent must-see presentation for every PHP developer. Find the additional slides here: http://thomaslohner.github.io/slides/Performance-Myths . A little warning: Don’t look at the slides without watching the video, the headlines might be confusing. And sorry for the weird preview picture, it’s the official one directly from YouTube. :)
