Creators of Laravel launch one-click-installations of Laravel (including nginx, PHP 5.5 etc.)

PreviousNext

Again, a game changer: Taylor Otwell, creator of Laravel (which is currently the most popular PHP framework), has released FORGE today. A wonderful tool, that setups up real live Ubuntu 14.04 LTS servers with nginx, PHP 5.5 , MySQL and Laravel with one click. It gets even better: You can freely chose your server provider, at the release DigitalOcean, Rackspace, Amazon AWS and Linode are support. Local boxes and other providers might come.

Why is this so awesome ?

Because it completely erases the entire ops part, the entire setup process.

Why is this even more awesome ?

Because it comes with the option to also install HHVM/HipHop and Hack, PostGres, Redis, git, NewRelic, SSL and basic security features.

Why is this even much much more awesome ?

You have full SSH access, you can manage vhosts, worker processes and cronjobs easily with a GUI, and it’s – in theory – possible to create small server grids. FORGE is optimized for Laravel, but also allows easy installations of any other (!) framework.

FORGE will change the way people will develop, and it lowers the barrier to start coding dramatically. A fantastic start-up that will save a lot of time, prevent a lot of stress and is made by people who know what they are doing.

FORGE will cost $10 per month. That’s extremely cheap compared to what you get and how much time this saves.

Well done Mr. Otwell, well done.
