What’s new in PHPStorm 10 (Official promo video)

PreviousNext

PHPStorm 10 is out! New features are mainly full PHP7 support, much better auto-recognation / autocompletion (even within arrays (unsure about multidimensional ones!)), Docker integration, PHPUnit 5 and as usual UI/UX improvements and general IDE tweaks. Outside of PHP there’s new stuff like support for Flow and Angular.js 2. Find the full list here.

Also note the new payment model for PHPStorm and (any?) other JetBrains tools: You can still pay a one-time fee (90-100€/$) to get the full IDE (and use it forever, plus get all major updates for 12 months, additional years are usually around 50€/$) or – and that’s interesting – pay a monthly fee to use PHPStorm. There has been a lot of controversy around this topic, but let’s be honest: It’s basically the same price as paying the one-time fee, and additional years are 5€/$ per month, for your main piece of software that you’ll use lots of hours per day, earning money in a well-paid and fast-evolving industry.

Disclaimer: This article is not sponsored by JetBrains or anybody else and there’s no affiliate link. I just like the IDE very much.
