Jeremy Kendall has just published a short and excellent overview on how to require versions of PHP (and explicit 64-bit versions), HHVM / HipHop, PHP extensions (like GD) and PHP libraries like curl, openssl and iconv with Composer. This is something everybody working with PHP should read – and bookmark.
